How to Enable / Disable Multiple RDP Sessions in Windows server 2008 / 2012
By default, Windows servers 2008/2012 allow a single Remote Desktop session. If only one session is available and if you try to login at the same time you take over another person's live session, To solve this issue you can choose to enable multiple RDP sessions, To enable multiple RDP sessions follow the steps below.
- Login to the server using Remote Desktop.
- Open the start screen (press the Windows key) and type gpedit.msc and open it
- Goto Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections.
- Set Restrict Remote Desktop Services user to a single Remote Desktop Services session to Disabled.
- Double click Limit number of connections and set the RD Maximum Connections allowed to the number as per your requirement.
- Disable Multiple RDP SessionsLogin to the server using Remote Desktop.
- Open the start menu and type 'gpedit.msc' and open it
- Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections.
- Set Restrict Remote Desktop Services user to a single Remote Desktop Services session to Enabled.
